What is a coffee dripper

A dripper is a tool for manually brewing pour-over coffee. A paper or cloth filter with ground coffee is placed inside it, and by gradually pouring hot water through the funnel-shaped body, clean, aromatic coffee is extracted directly into a cup or carafe.

Signs of wear or damage

Cracks, chipped edges or a deformed shape cause uneven water flow, and the filter no longer fits snugly inside the dripper. This results in inconsistent extraction, a bitter or watery taste, and in worse cases, coffee leaking outside the filter. On plastic drippers, discoloration, odor or fine scratches can appear over time, making cleaning more difficult.

When it's time for a replacement

A damaged or deformed dripper prevents even extraction and affects the final taste of the coffee regardless of the quality of the beans used. Replacing it with an undamaged piece will restore a predictable and consistent cup result.
