DeLonghi coffee machine won't turn on

When a DeLonghi won't turn on at all and doesn't respond, it's most often the power electronics, a fuse or the wiring.

If the DeLonghi machine won't start at all, doesn't light up and doesn't respond to the button, the problem is almost always in the power electronics or the power supply.

Most common causes

  • Faulty control or power board (in practice the most common cause)
  • Blown thermal fuse
  • Damaged wiring or connector
  • Faulty switch or button

What to check first

  • Try another socket and another power cable
  • Unplug the machine for a few minutes
  • Check that no special mode or lock is active

Frequently asked questions

The machine went dead and won't turn on, what is it?

When it died all at once and is completely dead, it's almost always the power supply, so first try another socket and cable to rule out the silliest thing. If the power is fine and the machine doesn't respond, it's usually a blown fuse on the power board or the board itself being faulty.

Is repairing the electronics worth it?

A fuse or a connector you fix for a few euros, always worth it. A whole power board costs depending on the model, on the higher-end PrimaDonna the repair is worth it, on cheap ranges weigh it against a refurbished machine.
