What is a pump thermal fuse

The thermal fuse is a protective element located directly on the pump or near it. Its job is to cut off power to the pump if the temperature exceeds a safe limit, thereby preventing damage to the pump motor or the risk of fire.

Signs of a fault

Unlike ordinary wear parts, a thermal fuse does not wear out gradually – it either works, or it is permanently interrupted due to overload or overheating. When this happens, the pump stops working completely: the coffee machine fails to draw water, does not heat up, may show an error message related to water flow or pressure, or the machine stops brewing coffee altogether.

Why timely replacement pays off

If the fuse is blown, the pump receives no power regardless of its own condition. Replacing the fuse restores the pump's function, provided the pump itself has not been damaged by another cause that led to the overheating.
