What the part does

The steam valve is a mechanical component that regulates the flow of steam from the coffee machine's boiler to the steam nozzle or milk frothing wand. In some models, it also controls the dispensing of hot water in addition to steam. Turning or pressing the lever opens and closes the valve, allowing controlled release of pressure and liquid.

When the part stops doing its job

A worn or damaged valve shows itself through steam or water leaking even in the closed position, a stiff or jerky lever action, hissing or whistling during operation, or a complete loss of the pressure needed to froth milk. Leakage around the valve body may also appear, causing water to drip from the machine.

When it's time for a replacement

A leaking or stuck valve increases water consumption, reduces the pressure needed for quality milk foam, and can put long-term strain on the boiler and other components of the coffee machine. Timely replacement prevents bigger faults and keeps the machine's performance stable.
