On a signal from the control electronics, the valve opens, closes or redirects the flow of water in the machine's hydraulic circuit, and it is one of the most common causes of water flow and pressure problems.

Important — check your model: before ordering, check the exact model designation and version of your coffee machine on the rating plate. This is usually located on the underside of the machine or behind the water tank (e.g. type code BES870UK). Also check the power supply, pressure connections and the number of the original valve so the new part fits correctly.

When does this part need to be replaced? (Failure symptoms)

This part typically fails when you notice one of the following symptoms:

• Water leaking from underneath the machine or into the drip tray, even though you are not brewing coffee
• Coffee flows very slowly, only in drips, or does not flow at all, even though you can hear the pump running
• The machine makes unusual (hissing) noises as pressure escapes from the brewing system
• The valve does not close and water continues to flow even after brewing has finished
