Profiling Valve

The profiling valve is part of the group on a lever espresso machine that allows the water pressure to be varied during espresso extraction. Thanks to it, a slower pressure ramp-up or its gradual reduction is possible, which affects the way water flows through the coffee puck. This group also includes the extension or additional part of the assembly that is fitted together with the valve.

Signs of Wear

A worn or damaged valve will show itself through unstable or unpredictable pressure during brewing, or through water leaking outside its normal flow path. There may also be mechanical play, a stiff or, conversely, too loose movement of the control element, or visible wear marks on the sealing surfaces.

Why Replace It in Time

If the valve or its component does not work correctly, you lose control over the pressure profile, which shows up in the taste of the coffee and the repeatability of the result. Long-term neglect can also lead to increased strain on surrounding parts of the group.
