What is an NTC temperature sensor

An NTC sensor (temperature probe) is a component that continuously measures the temperature of the water or thermoblock in a coffee machine and sends this data to the control electronics. Based on this information, the appliance switches heating on or off so that the water reaches the correct temperature for brewing coffee or producing steam.

Signs of wear or failure

When the sensor loses accuracy or fails completely, the coffee machine may report a heating error, take a long time to heat up, cycle on and off repeatedly, or brew coffee at the wrong temperature. The result is often water that is too cold or overheated, a change in coffee taste, and in some cases a complete refusal to start brewing.
