What is a flow meter and what does it do

A flow meter is a sensor that measures the amount of water passing through the coffee machine during brewing. Based on its signal, the control unit can precisely dose water for coffee, tea or hot water and stop the flow at the right moment.

Signs of wear or malfunction

• The coffee machine dispenses a different amount of water each time, even though the setting is the same
• The cup is sometimes overfilled, other times not filled enough
• The machine shows a flow error or the brewing process stops prematurely
• Water flows continuously or not at all

When it's time for a replacement

A faulty or inaccurate flow meter disrupts the entire brewing process, affects the taste of the coffee and can even cause water to leak inside the machine. Replacing it in time prevents further dosing inaccuracies and unnecessary strain on other components of the coffee machine.
