What the steam valve lever does

The steam valve lever is a control element used to open and close the steam supply to the milk frother. Through direct mechanical movement, it releases steam from the boiler, allowing you to froth or heat milk for milk-based coffee drinks.

How to spot wear

Over time, its mounting can loosen, the joint can work its way loose, or the mechanism can lose smoothness of movement. This shows up as stiff or, conversely, too loose control, steam escaping outside the nozzle, clicking or play in the joint, or the inability to fully seal the valve.

When it's time for a replacement

A damaged or worn lever makes precise control of steam flow difficult, which affects the quality of frothed milk and can lead to wasted steam and an unpleasant escape of hot steam during use. Timely replacement restores safe and reliable control of the frother.
