What is a thermoblock

A thermoblock is a heating element that heats the water needed for brewing coffee or producing steam and hot water in a coffee machine. Some products in this group are the thermoblock itself, others are its connecting elbow, which ensures the water supply to or from the unit. Without a functioning thermoblock or a properly sealing elbow, the coffee machine cannot heat water to the required temperature, or water leaks from the circuit.

How to spot wear

A worn or damaged thermoblock shows itself through coffee coming out cold or only lukewarm, longer preparation times, or an error message appearing on the display. Cracks in the body or on the connecting elbow cause dripping or leaking water under the coffee machine, and in worse cases, inside the appliance, which can damage other electronic components.

When it's time for a replacement

A damaged thermoblock should not be left in use, as water leaking into the electrical components of the coffee machine can cause further, more costly damage. Timely replacement restores correct water temperature and stable coffee preparation.
