What is a thermoblock connector and what it is used for

The thermoblock (or steam element) connector is a coupling part that links the heating element with the hose supplying or discharging water or steam. It ensures that the pressure built up in the system goes exactly where it should, without leaking into the coffee machine's surroundings.

When the part stops doing its job

When the connector loses its seal, you'll usually notice dripping or damp marks around the thermoblock, a drop in pressure when brewing coffee or frothing milk, or a hissing sound from escaping steam. Sometimes an error message related to pressure or water heating may also appear.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A leaking or damaged connector increases the risk of moisture damaging nearby electrical components and can cause the coffee machine to stop reliably heating water to the required temperature. Timely replacement prevents a bigger thermoblock failure and unnecessary wear on other parts.
