What the temperature sensor does

The temperature sensor is an electronic component that measures the temperature of water, steam or the boiler in a coffee machine and sends this information to the control unit. Based on its readings, the coffee machine turns the heating on or off to maintain the temperature needed for brewing coffee or frothing milk.

Signs of wear or failure

When the sensor loses accuracy or fails completely, the coffee machine may display an error, stop heating the water, or conversely fail to switch off the heating so the water becomes too hot or too cold. Common symptoms include inconsistent coffee temperature, long waiting times for preparation, or interrupted operation with a temperature-related error displayed.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A faulty or inaccurate sensor affects both the quality of the coffee and the safety of the machine, since the control unit no longer has reliable information about the actual temperature. Timely replacement prevents faulty heating cycles and unnecessary wear on other components.
