What is a thermoblock (flow water heater)

The thermoblock, also known as a flow heater, is a component of the coffee machine that heats water flowing through its internal channels to the temperature needed for brewing coffee or frothing milk within seconds. Instead of a large boiler, the machine heats only a small amount of water just before it is used.

Signs of wear or failure

With a worn or damaged heater, you will most often notice that the coffee comes out cold or only lukewarm, preparation takes longer, or an error message appears and the coffee machine will not start at all. There may also be water leaking from the heater body or an unusual smell caused by overheating.
