What is a valve nut

A valve nut is a small threaded part that attaches a valve (steam, water or gas) to the boiler body or to the supply line of the coffee machine. Its role is to hold the valve firmly in place while also ensuring a tight seal at the point where water, steam or gas passes under pressure.

When the part stops doing its job

If the nut loosens, gets damaged or its threads corrode, the connection stops being tight. This shows up as water or steam leaking around the valve, hissing, dripping under the machine, or a drop in pressure when brewing coffee or frothing milk. In some cases the valve can barely be tightened or moves in its mount.

When it's time for a replacement

A leaking or loose connection increases the risk of a bigger leak, moisture damage to surrounding parts and unnecessary wear on the valve itself. Replacing the nut is a simple and cheap fix that can solve the problem before it gets worse.
