What the sensor does

The bean level sensor monitors the amount of coffee beans in the grinder hopper and informs the coffee machine's control unit whether the hopper is sufficiently filled. Based on this signal, the machine decides whether it can continue grinding or should warn that beans need to be topped up.

Signs of wear or malfunction

When the sensor stops working reliably, the coffee machine may report a lack of beans even though the hopper is full, or conversely keep grinding until the hopper is completely empty. This typically results in interrupted brewing, an error message on the display, or dry grinding, which puts strain on the grinding mechanism.

When it's time for a replacement

A faulty sensor causes unnecessary interruptions to brewing and can lead to wear of other grinder parts if it runs without beans. Timely replacement restores reliable detection of the hopper's status and smooth operation of the coffee machine.

Choosing the right part
