What is a vacuum valve

A vacuum valve is a small safety component located on the boiler or in the water and steam circuit. Its role is to equalize pressure as the coffee machine cools down and let air into the system when negative pressure builds up inside. This protects the seals, hoses, and the boiler itself from excessive strain.

How to spot wear

When the valve doesn't work properly, boiler components can become deformed, unusual sounds may occur as the coffee machine cools, or water or steam may leak at the point where the valve is fitted. Sometimes this also shows up as problems drawing air into the system after the machine is switched off.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A damaged or clogged vacuum valve can gradually damage other parts of the coffee machine, as it can no longer perform its equalizing function. Timely replacement prevents bigger and more costly repairs.
