What is a valve spring

A valve spring is a small metal component that keeps the valve in a coffee machine in a closed position and ensures its reliable opening and closing at the right moment. It is used, for example, in check, release, or steam valves, where it regulates the pressure of water or steam in the system.

How to spot wear

Over time, the spring loses its elasticity or may break. This shows up as a leaking valve, water or steam escaping outside its normal path, fluctuating pressure, irregular water flow through the group, or a loud clicking sound during operation of the coffee machine. A weak spring can also cause the valve to remain permanently slightly open, affecting the pressure needed to brew coffee.

When it's time for a replacement

A worn spring puts strain on the other parts of the valve and can lead to faster wear or a bigger failure. Timely replacement is a simple and inexpensive repair that restores proper valve function and pressure stability in the system.
