What is the flow meter tube

The flow meter tube is a part of the coffee machine's hydraulic circuit through which water flows on its way to the group or heat exchanger. Inside or near it sits the flow meter sensor, which measures the amount of water that has passed through and lets the machine control dosing and brew time accordingly.

Signs of wear or damage

If the tube is damaged, cracked or leaking, this shows up as water leaking around the flow meter, irregular or incorrect coffee dosing, fluctuating extraction, and sometimes an error message on the machine's display. Limescale deposits inside the tube can restrict flow and distort the flow meter's readings.
