What is the drip tray bottom strip

The bottom strip is a trim piece located on the lower edge of the coffee machine's drip tray. Its job is to seal the space between the tray and the body of the machine, or its housing, so that water and coffee residue do not leak out of the tray and drip into the inside of the appliance or onto the worktop.

When the part stops doing its job

Over time, the rubber or silicone edge of the strip loses its flexibility, cracks or becomes deformed. This shows up as water seeping out of the tray, wet stains appearing under the coffee machine, or liquid getting into the electrical parts at the bottom of the machine.
