What is a conical PTFE seal

A conical (cone-shaped) PTFE seal is used in places where a threaded or conical joint needs to be sealed, for example at the water inlet, at sensors, or at joints in a coffee machine's circuit. Thanks to its shape, when tightened it seats precisely into the conical seat and creates a tight joint resistant to heat and pressure.

How to spot wear

Over time, PTFE material loses the flexibility and compressibility needed for a perfect seal. A worn or hardened seal shows itself through water or steam leaking at the joint, dripping, hissing, or a drop in system pressure. Sometimes deformation or microscopic cracks are visible on the seal's surface.

Why replace this part in time

A leaking joint can cause unnecessary water loss, reduced pressure needed for proper coffee brewing, and in the worst case, damage to surrounding parts from moisture. Timely replacement of the seal is a quick and inexpensive way to prevent bigger problems.
