What is the pressure hose seal

The pressure hose seal is located at the connection point of the hose that carries hot water under pressure to the brewing unit or outlet of the coffee machine. Its job is to seal the joint so that pressurized water does not leak outside the intended path and so the coffee machine reaches the pressure needed for coffee extraction.

Signs of wear

An old or hardened seal loses its elasticity and no longer seals perfectly. This shows up as water or steam leaking around the hose, dripping under the machine, weaker or unstable pressure during brewing, and sometimes a pressure-related error message on the coffee machine. The machine may also make a hissing sound as water flows through.

When it's time for a replacement

A leaking joint increases water consumption, can damage nearby components through moisture, and causes uneven extraction, which affects the taste of the coffee. Replacing the seal is a simple and inexpensive fix that prevents bigger failures in the hose system.
