What is a drain hose

The drain hose carries water away from the internal parts of the coffee machine, for example from the boiler or the heating circuit, into a collection tray or drain. It ensures that excess water or water from the descaling and rinsing cycle flows away from the electronics and mechanics of the appliance.

How to spot wear

As the material ages, the hose loses flexibility, cracks, or loosens at the joints. This can result in dripping or leaking water in the wrong place, a wet bottom of the coffee machine or worktop, or an error message related to water level or descaling. Sometimes an odour or discoloration of the water may appear if dirt has built up inside the damaged hose.
