What a nut is and what it's used for

A nut is a fastening element used in a coffee machine to secure various components – from covers and control elements to seals or indicator light glasses. Its purpose is to hold these parts firmly in place and ensure they don't loosen during normal operation, vibration, or thermal stress.

How to spot wear

A worn, damaged, or poorly tightened nut will show itself through a loosened part, play, rattling, or even water leaking at the joint if the nut is holding a seal in place. On nuts securing indicator light glasses, this can result in the glass falling out or leaking.

When it's time for a replacement

Damaged threads or a corroded nut make it difficult or impossible to properly tighten the joint. Timely replacement prevents further damage to surrounding parts and maintains the mechanical stability of the whole assembly.
