What is a sensor or switch holder

A sensor or switch holder is a plastic or metal part that keeps a sensor (for example an NTC sensor, reed switch or microswitch) precisely in place within the coffee machine's construction. Thanks to correct positioning, the sensor reliably detects temperature, part position or mechanism status and sends this information to the control unit.

How wear shows up

Over time the holder can crack, lose its flexibility or come loose from its mount. The sensor may then shift slightly or lose contact, which shows up as incorrect temperature readings, error messages, the coffee machine not reacting to the door or container being opened, or the microswitch not triggering reliably with every press.

Why timely replacement pays off

A damaged holder can cause the sensor to work correctly in itself, but due to poor positioning it sends inaccurate or intermittent signals. This leads to unnecessary faults, error codes, or the coffee machine refusing to start brewing even though the sensor itself is fine.
