What is a shaped silicone gasket

This is a gasket with a distinctive mushroom or nozzle shape, used in a coffee machine to seal joints around nozzles, valves or water and steam inlets. Thanks to its profiled shape, it fits precisely into place and prevents pressure, water or steam from escaping outside the intended path.

How to spot wear

Over time, silicone loses its elasticity and may deform, harden or crack. This results in water or steam leaking or dripping outside the nozzle, hissing, reduced pressure or uneven flow. Contact with heat and limescale accelerates this process.
