What is a valve knob and what is it for

The valve knob is a control element located on the lever or shaft of a coffee machine's steam or water valve. It is used to manually open and close the flow of steam or hot water, used for frothing milk or dispensing hot water.

Typical signs of wear

Over time, the knob can become loose, crack, or slip on the valve shaft, so it can no longer be tightened or turned properly. This results in stiff or jerky valve operation, steam or water leaking around the valve, or complete inability to operate the part by hand.

Why timely replacement pays off
