What is the steam wand O-ring

The steam wand O-ring is a small sealing ring with a circular cross-section that sits on the body of the wand or milk frother and prevents steam and hot water from escaping outside the flow path. Thanks to it, the wand fits snugly into its seat and steam passes only where it should.
