Ground coffee quantity sensor for Bosch coffee machines

What the sensor does

The bean level or grind quantity sensor in the grinder monitors whether there are enough coffee beans in the hopper, or checks the amount of ground coffee before processing. Based on its signal, the coffee machine's control unit determines whether the grinder can start grinding or whether beans need to be topped up.

Signs of wear or malfunction

When the sensor stops working reliably, the coffee machine may report an empty hopper error despite having enough beans, grinding may stop midway through preparation, or conversely the grinder may run empty without beans. Inaccurate ground coffee doses are also common, affecting the taste and density of the coffee, or the coffee machine may refuse to start preparation altogether.

When it's time for a replacement

A faulty sensor limits normal use of the coffee machine and can cause the grinder to operate without control, increasing the risk of damage to other parts. Timely replacement restores reliable bean detection and smooth operation of coffee preparation.
