What is the grinder gear wheel

The gear wheel is part of the transmission mechanism that drives the grinding burrs in the coffee machine's grinder. It transfers force from the motor so that the coffee beans are ground to the fineness needed for preparing quality espresso.

Signs of wear

A worn or damaged gear wheel shows up as uneven grinding, a noisy or jerky running grinder, or a complete stop of grinding. The teeth of the wheel wear down, crack, or break off over time, which can even jam the whole mechanism.
