What is the grind adjustment gear wheel

This is a small gear component in the coffee maker's grinder that transmits movement from the grind adjustment control to the mechanism that moves the grinding discs closer together or farther apart. Typical signs of wear

When the teeth of the wheel are worn or cracked, the adjustment mechanism skips, grinds, or won't turn at all. Grind size adjustment becomes unreliable, grinding becomes uneven, and the taste of the coffee fluctuates for no apparent reason. In some cases, there is also increased noise or the grinder jams.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A damaged wheel can cause the setting to shift on its own or get stuck in one position, leading to persistently poor coffee extraction. If the teeth break completely, the grinding discs may come into direct contact, increasing the risk of damage to them.
