What is a grinder seal

The grinder seal is located between the grinder and the coffee machine body, or between individual parts of the grinding unit. Its purpose is to separate the ground coffee area from the surroundings and prevent ground coffee from escaping or moisture and dirt from entering the mechanism.

Signs of wear

• Ground coffee spills outside the dosing chamber or collects around the grinder
• Increased dust inside the coffee machine
• Incomplete or uneven dosing of coffee into the brewing unit
• Loose seating of the grinder, vibrations, or unusual noise while grinding

When it's time for a replacement

A worn or deformed seal loses its elasticity and no longer seals the joint properly. This results in inaccurate coffee dosing, contamination of the machine's internal parts, and in some cases damage to surrounding components caused by ground coffee. Timely replacement prevents more extensive intervention in the grinding unit.
