What is a contactor and what it is used for

A contactor is an electromagnetic switch that controls the power supply to the high-power components in a coffee machine, most often heating elements or motors. It works as a remotely controlled switch that, on command from the control electronics, connects or disconnects higher currents that could not be safely carried by a weaker switch or directly through the board.

Signs of wear or failure

A worn or damaged contactor shows itself through irregular switching on of the heating, power outages in some part of the coffee machine, clicking or buzzing of the coil, or a completely non-functional state where the appliance does not heat up at all. It is also common for the contactor itself to overheat or for there to be a burning smell caused by scorched contacts.

Why replace this part in time

Damaged contactor contacts can cause overheating, unstable power supply to sensitive electronics, or complete failure of the machine. Timely replacement prevents secondary damage to the control board or heating elements and restores reliable and safe switching.
