What is a shower screen and what is it for

The shower screen is a perforated plate located on the brewing unit of the coffee machine. It evenly distributes hot water from the boiler across the whole surface of the ground coffee, so that extraction proceeds evenly and the coffee has a balanced taste.

Typical signs of wear

Discoloration, clogged holes or deposits of coffee oil and limescale
Uneven water flow, channeling or dripping outside the central area
Bitter, burnt or, conversely, watery coffee taste
Extended brewing time or unstable pressure during extraction

Why timely replacement pays off
