Water filters for coffee machine

Water quality accounts for up to 98% of the coffee's composition, so water filters are essential for achieving the perfect taste and aroma. Properly filtered water not only improves the taste of the coffee, but also significantly extends the life of the machine and reduces maintenance costs.

Types of water filters:

• Activating Water Filters: They contain activated carbon and ion exchangers that remove chlorine, calcium, magnesium and organic impurities. They improve the taste of water and reduce hardness by 60-80%.
• Filter inserts: Compatible with De'Longhi, Philips, Krups and Saeco coffee machines. Each cartridge filters approximately 50-60 litres of water and lasts 2-3 months with standard use.
• Softening filters: Specially designed for areas with very hard water (above 15°dH) where standard filters are not sufficient to sufficiently reduce the mineral content.
• Paper filters: For filter coffee machines and manual brewing methods - ensure clean extraction without sediment and bittering from the coffee.

Filter Change Frequency

Standard Conditions: Replace every 2-3 months or after 50-60 litres of filtered water. Hard water: Replace every 6-8 weeks. Intensive use: Monthly replacement when preparing more than 5 coffees per day.

Water Filter Replacement Procedure

1. Turn off the coffee maker and wait for it to cool down completely
2. Remove the water tank and locate the filter (usually at the bottom of the tank)
3. Remove the old filter - it may contain water residue
4. Rinse the new filter under cold water for 10-15 seconds
5. Insert the new filter into position until it clicks into place
6. Fill the reservoir with fresh water and put back into the coffee machine
7. Reset the filter counter in the coffee machine menu (if available)
8. Run 2-3 flushing cycles to activate the filter

Maintenance and optimization of filtered water

For maximum efficiency, combine water filters with regular descaling every 3-4 months, use fresh water daily, store filters in a cool, dry environment, and monitor the taste of the coffee as an indicator of the need for filter replacement.
