What is a flow meter

A flow meter is a sensor built into the water circuit of a coffee machine that measures the amount of water flowing to the brewing unit. Based on its signal, the machine's electronics determine when the water or beverage dose should end, so it directly affects dosing accuracy and the repeatability of coffee taste.

Signs of wear or fault

A faulty or dirty flow meter shows up as an irregular amount of water in the cup, coffee that is too weak or too strong, or a complete interruption of brewing with an error message on the display. Sometimes it also causes incorrect volume measurement when preparing hot water or milk.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

If the flow meter measures inaccurately, the coffee machine cannot follow the set recipes, resulting in an inconsistent beverage or interrupted brewing. Timely replacement restores reliable dosing and prevents unnecessary strain on other parts of the water system.
