DeLonghi brew units typically use two O-rings on the piston - the primary to gasket against pressure and the secondary to catch minor leaks. When replacing, it is essential to use food grade silicone grease for proper function and extended life.

Moka coffee makers and their specifics require gaskets that can withstand extreme temperature cycles and high steam pressure. It is recommended that the rubber gasket in a mocha coffee maker be replaced every 12-18 months or at the first sign of wear.

Indicators of the need for replacement include visible water leaks during operation, a drop in extraction pressure, changes in foam consistency, or visual damage to the gasket (cracks, warping, hardening of the material).

The replacement and maintenance process requires disassembly of the appropriate knot, thorough cleaning of the grooves of old grease residue and deposits, application of a thin layer of silicone grease, and accurate fitting of the new gasket according to the guide marks.
