What is a single spout

The single spout is a part of the group head through which brewed espresso flows from the coffee machine into the cup. It directs the flow of coffee straight down so it doesn't splash around, and also affects how the crema forms and holds on the surface of the drink.

Signs of wear

An old or damaged spout can be recognized by an uneven or angled flow of coffee, dripping after brewing has finished, discoloration or coffee oil deposits that can't be properly removed. There may also be leakage at the point where it attaches to the group head, or mechanical damage such as cracking or a broken-off part.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A damaged spout worsens the quality of the coffee served, causes mess in the area under the group head, and if leaking, can lead to unnecessary water loss and unstable pressure during brewing. Replacement is a simple way to restore a clean and even flow without any intervention on the group head itself.
