What is a steam or hot water wand

The steam and hot water wand is the end part through which the coffee machine releases hot steam or hot water out of the system. It is used for frothing milk, preparing hot beverages, or dispensing hot water directly into a cup. It is part of the steam or water arm and connects to the machine's internal piping.

Typical signs of wear

A worn or clogged wand shows itself through a weak or irregular flow of steam or water, hissing, dripping after dispensing ends, or water leaking at the point where it connects to the arm. Limescale or milk deposits are also common, narrowing the passage and changing the character of frothed milk.
