What is the steam wand tube

The steam wand tube is a part of the milk frother through which steam passes from the boiler towards the milk foam. It is attached to the frother's body and, together with the tip or nozzle, creates the steam jet needed for whipping and heating milk when preparing cappuccino or latte.

Signs of wear

Over time, milk deposits and limescale can build up on the tube, restricting the flow of steam. This shows up as weaker or uneven frothing, hissing, steam escaping outside the nozzle, or visible corrosion and scratching on the surface. If the tube is cracked or leaking, steam can escape right at the inlet, reducing both performance and operator safety.
