Sensors and fuses - Compatible with - EP5447 - EP 5000 LatteGo

Sensors and fuses make up the intelligent safety and control system of modern coffee machines. These components continuously monitor all critical parameters and ensure safe operation of the machine even under substandard conditions.

Temperature sensors maintain the optimum extraction temperature between 88-96°C and control the steam temperature for frothing milk at 140-150°C. A faulty temperature sensor will result in inconsistent coffee temperature or an inability to reach the correct temperature.

Water level sensors use a variety of technologies - magnetic reed sensors, capacitive sensors or optical detectors. These components ensure that the pump does not start when the tank is empty, protecting the motor from damage.

Flow sensors accurately measure the amount of water passing through the system and allow programming of different coffee volumes. Failure of this sensor leads to incorrect dosing - too weak or too strong coffee.

Pressure sensors and micropressure switches monitor the pressure in the hydraulic system and ensure the optimum 9 bar for espresso extraction. Reed sensors in the micropresistors react to pressure changes and control the pump operation.

Thermal fuses and thermostats are the last safety feature against overheating. Disposable thermal fuses are activated at 130-150°C and must be replaced after start-up. Resettable thermostats automatically reset after cooling.

Waste and position sensors check that the waste container, brew unit or water tank is inserted correctly. These safety features prevent the coffee machine from starting if components are incorrectly installed.

Sensor fault diagnosis includes checking electrical resistance with a multimeter, visually inspecting cables and connectors, and testing functionality according to the service manual. Most malfunctions will be indicated by error codes on the coffee maker display.

Replacing and calibrating new sensors requires precise adherence to electrical schematics and often calibration using service software. Incorrect wiring can damage the coffee machine's control electronic modules.
