Mechanical valve / piston for De'Longhi ECAM full-automatic coffee machines
Mechanical Valve / Brewing Piston Complete Complete replacement brewing piston assembly including integrated valve and seals, ready for direct installation without additional assembly of small components. This critical part of the brewing unit ensures proper coffee compression and maintains optimal pressure during espresso extraction. Compatibility
Specifically designed for De'Longhi ECAM series automatic coffee machines. Precise dimensions and material specifications match the original part and guarantee trouble-free functionality in all compatible models listed below in the product description. Scope of Delivery
Assembly includes mechanical piston with integrated valve mechanism and pre-installed seals for immediate use. For complete connection of pressure hoses, two additional seals (item no.: 1786264) are required, ordered separately. Function in the System
The brewing piston performs controlled compression movement of ground coffee in the brewing chamber, creating optimal resistance for 9-bar water pressure. The integrated valve mechanism controls water flow and ensures proper extraction timing for perfect espresso with rich crema. Replacement Indicators
A damaged brewing piston manifests through uneven extraction, weak crema, water leaks around the brewing unit, noisy operation during cycle, or error messages on the coffee machine display. Worn seals can cause pressure drop and wet coffee grounds. Installation
Replacement requires disassembly of the brewing unit, removal of old piston, thorough cleaning of chamber from coffee residues, installation of new piston with correct orientation check, and connection of pressure hoses with new seals. We recommend performing a test cycle without coffee before first use. Maintenance and Lifespan
With proper maintenance and regular lubrication of the brewing unit, the brewing piston can last 3-5 years or 15,000-25,000 coffees. Using quality filtered water and regular descaling significantly extends the lifespan of all mechanical components.
De’Longhi coffee machine – water leaks into the drip tray
With De’Longhi coffee machines, a common cause of water leaking into the drip tray is a damaged mechanical piston valve. This valve ensures proper water flow during coffee preparation. If the valve is worn, dirty, or mechanically damaged, the water flows into the drip tray instead of the cup.
The problem usually develops gradually – the coffee becomes weaker, less water flows into the cup, and the amount of water in the drip tray increases. This is often the result of long-term use, limescale buildup, or insufficient maintenance of the infuser.
The solution is to replace the mechanical piston valve. After replacement, the valve correctly regulates the water flow again and the coffee machine operates without leaks.
