What is a PTFE or silicone hose

This is a flexible hose that carries water or steam between individual components inside the coffee machine, for example to the heat exchanger, boiler or steam nozzle. The material withstands high temperatures and pressure while remaining flexible, allowing safe connections at moving or hard-to-reach points.

How to spot wear

Over time, the hose can harden, crack or soften due to heat and limescale. This usually results in water or steam leaks, dripping under the machine, a drop in pressure, or uneven flow that affects coffee quality. Cracks sometimes only appear at operating temperature, once the material loses its flexibility.

When it's time for a replacement

A leaking or damaged hose can cause an internal water leak that damages other components or the machine's electronics. Timely replacement prevents bigger repairs and keeps the pressure and temperature stable for the coffee machine to work properly.
