What a straight connector is and what it's for

A straight connector (fitting) is a short metal or plastic part that joins two sections of tubing, or a tube with another component of the water or steam circuit in a coffee machine. It ensures a firm, tight connection without bending, so water or steam flows straight from one side to the other without leaking.

Typical signs of wear

Over time, the thread or sealing surface of the connector can wear out, corrode or crack. This shows up as water or steam leaking at the joint, dripping under the coffee machine, a drop in circuit pressure, or fluctuations in it. If you notice visible corrosion, a deformed thread, or a permanently damp spot around the joint, it's worth checking the connector.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A leaking or damaged connector increases water consumption, can cause a drop in the pressure needed to brew coffee, and if neglected for too long, leads to moisture damage to surrounding components. Replacing it with a new connector restores a tight seal and reliable flow.
