What the water filter does

The water filter is a cartridge fitted into the water supply of the coffee machine, reducing the level of limescale, chlorine and other impurities before the water is heated and brewed into coffee. This protects the internal circuits, boiler and brewing unit from scale buildup and extends the interval between descaling.

When the part stops doing its job

A depleted filter loses its ability to capture limescale, which shows up as faster scaling of the coffee machine, a change in coffee taste or more pronounced bitterness, an odd smell in the water, a noisier boiler, and in some cases an error message related to water hardness.

When it's time for a replacement

The filter has a limited capacity and lifespan regardless of how much water passes through it, so it is recommended to replace it regularly according to the water hardness and intensity of use. Timely replacement reduces the risk of scale deposits, which shorten the coffee machine's lifespan and lead to more costly repairs.
