Temperature Sensor (NTC) for DeLonghi Magnifica Start Coffee Machines

What is an NTC temperature sensor

The NTC sensor is a component that continuously measures the temperature of the water or heating element in the coffee machine. Based on its readings, the control electronics decide when to switch the heating on or off, so that the water stays within the correct temperature range during coffee preparation.

Signs of wear or failure

When the sensor loses accuracy or fails completely, the coffee machine may report a heating error, take a long time to heat up, overheat, or conversely prepare coffee cooler than usual. It is also common for the device to lock up entirely with an error message on the display, or to repeatedly switch off on its own during brewing.

When it's time for a replacement

A faulty or inaccurate sensor affects not only the taste of the coffee but can also cause unnecessary strain on the heating element or a complete stoppage of the machine. Timely replacement prevents further related faults and restores reliable heating operation.
