What is a position switch

A position switch is an electrical switch used in a coffee machine to select the operating mode or function of the machine - for example, turning it on, off, or switching between different power modes. It is usually located on the control panel or inside the wiring, and its position directly determines which circuit is currently active.

When the part stops doing its job

• The machine does not respond to switching or switches on its own
• One of the functions cannot be activated at all
• The switch is mechanically loose, sticks, or does not hold the selected position
• Sparking, a burning smell, or an unusual sound occurs when switching
