What the screw in a coffee machine does

The screw is a fastening element that holds other parts of the coffee machine in place – covers, spouts, seals, holders or structural parts. Without a properly tightened and undamaged screw, joints loosen, parts shift out of position, or play appears between them.

How wear shows up

A damaged or corroded screw shows up as loose parts, creaking or knocking while the coffee machine is operating, uneven seating of covers, or water leaking at the point where the screw was meant to keep a seal under pressure. Worn or deformed threads or a damaged screw head often make it impossible to tighten or remove with standard tools.
