What is a flat PTFE gasket

A flat PTFE gasket is a thin disc or washer that seals the joint between two metal parts of a coffee machine, for example between a nut, a nozzle, or a hose connection. Thanks to its resistance to heat and pressure, it is used precisely in places where hot water or steam passes through.

Signs of wear

Over time, PTFE material loses its elasticity, hardens, or becomes deformed by pressure and heat. This results in water or steam leaking from the joint, hissing, dripping under the connection, or fluctuating pressure and unstable coffee extraction. On the steam wand, a worn gasket also shows up as a weaker or uneven steam flow.

Why replace this part in time

A leaking joint gradually worsens the machine's performance and can damage surrounding parts through moisture or overheating. Replacing the thin gasket is a simple and inexpensive fix that prevents a bigger failure and restores a reliable seal.
