What the brewing unit housing does

The housing is a mechanical part that guides or supports the moving parts of the brewing unit - for example the piston, the pivot mechanism or part of the ejection system. It ensures that these parts move precisely, smoothly and without unnecessary friction during every coffee brewing cycle.

Typical signs of wear

A worn or damaged housing shows up as increased friction, squeaking or knocking during movement of the brewing unit, imprecise or jerky motion of the piston or lever, or water leaking at the point where the housing guides the moving part. The overall tightness of the mechanism can also worsen, affecting the pressure during extraction and thus the quality of the coffee.

When it's time for a replacement

A worn housing increases the load on the surrounding components of the brewing unit and can speed up their wear. Timely replacement prevents more serious mechanism failures and keeps the coffee machine running smoothly.
