Function of the drain valve

The drain (discharge) valve is used for controlled release of water, steam or pressure from the coffee machine's circuit. It opens and closes the flow so that maintenance, boiler descaling or safe relief of excess pressure can be carried out. It is part of the system that protects the machine from overpressure and allows regular cleaning.

When the part stops doing its job

A worn or damaged valve shows itself through leaking water or steam even outside the drain cycle, stiff or, on the contrary, loose operation, insufficient sealing after closing, or complete blockage of flow. Hissing, dripping under the machine, or slow venting of the boiler may also occur.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A leaking or stuck valve increases the risk of pressure loss, damage to surrounding components from moisture, and can prevent proper descaling. Timely replacement prevents larger faults in the pressure system and keeps the machine running safely.
